Victorian Tea Party

Recently my sister threw a Victorian Tea Party baby shower for a friend and it was the epitome of a girly baby shower.

She decorated by filling vases with calla lilies and pink roses for the center pieces which were placed on top of crocheted doilies. Around the vases she draped pieces of satin ribbon, lace, and strings of pearls.

In the weeks leading up to the shower she scoured yard sales and antique shops for old-fashioned cups and saucers. When all the sets were displayed together, the mismatched settings looked absolutely charming with their floral accents and delicate features.

If you want to put a little twist on your Victorian tea party, take some of the extra cups and hang them from your chandelier with satin ribbon and glass beads as seen below. The affect is really stunning, especially the way the light reflects off the beads.

Many varieties of teas were served along with scones, tiny blueberry muffins, and croissants--all on antique silver trays. Cupcakes topped with delicate flowers in frosting colors mismatched to "match" the cups and saucers added to the charm.

Enjoy Planning.

P.S. A Victorian tea party theme also works really well for bridal showers!
