When You Should Send Engagement Announcements
I know it’s exciting when you get engaged and you want to tell everyone right away. Definitely tell the people who you’re closest with like your parents, siblings, and close friends.
Once you’re sure you’ve told everyone who deserves a personal phone call or an in-person visit, then you can send your engagement announcement to everyone else (extended family, friends, coworkers).
It would be awful to forget to tell someone that you meant to tell over the phone only to have them find out from someone else.
As for how long you should wait to send your announcement, there are no rules. An engagement announcement does not replace a save the date or engagement party invitation. You can send it as soon as you feel comfortable spreading the word about your engagement.
