Engagement Party Ideas

Engagement parties are a great way to introduce the families to each other. Appropriate timing to host an engagement party is 2–4 months after the proposal.

The bride’s family, the groom’s family, the engaged couple, or some combination often host the engagement party--which traditionally have been hosted by the bride’s family.

Couples have lots of options when it comes to engagement parties these days. I’ve been to brunches, cocktail parties, and simple at-home parties.  One couple I know even rented out the bar where they had their first date.

When it comes to your engagement party, do what makes sense for you financially and what you think your guests will enjoy. No need to invite everyone that’s on your wedding guest list, after all, isn’t that what the wedding is for?

I also recommend registering before your engagement party. While it’s not tradition to bring a gift to the engagement party, more and more people do bring gifts these days. You might as well make it easy for them.

Congratulations.
