Delicious Dirt Cake Recipe
Today MyPunchbowl launched a new section of our site called "Reasons to Celebrate." The site provides fun and quirky reasons to celebrate every day of the year -- in most cases there are multiples reasons to celebrate each day.
In honor of today's reason to celebrate, National Gummi Worm Day, I wanted to share a recipe that involves these creepy, crawly critters: dirt cake!
Dirt cake is a great dessert to make for a kids birthday party or even a Halloween party.
Here's a recipe that I like, though there are many versions out there:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
2 (3.5 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding mix
3 1/2 cups milk
1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
32 ounces chocolate sandwich cookies with creme filling
1 bag gummi worms
Cooking Instructions:
1. Chop cookies in a food processor until they are very fine
2. Mix butter, cream cheese, and sugar in bowl.
3. In a large bowl mix milk, pudding and whipped topping together.
4. Combine pudding mixture and cream mixture together, then add gummi worms
5. Layer into final serving dish (cute dish, wheelbarrow, flower pot, etc.) starting with cookies then cream mixture. Repeat layers.
6.Chill until ready to serve
Enjoy Planning.
