25th Anniversary Party Planning
Hi Penelope-
We have no children, and are planning our own 25th wedding anniversary party. My problem is that I would like to cater the buffet myself (cold) and I am at a loss for food ideas for the food—got anything?

Dear Brenda,
First, congratulations on 25 years together! That’s an accomplishment, to say the least. When planning an event to celebrate something as important as your marriage, you’ll probably do best to keep your food options simple, fun and slightly more on the upscale side.
What does this mean for you and your party planning? If you’re hoping to keep chafing dishes out of your party space and keep the buffet cold, you’re actually making your life easier by cutting out the hot food options.
You’ll want to offer simple appetizers as guests are arriving to the party and meeting one another. One great option is to set up an appetizer buffet stocked with tapenades, cheeses, yummy greens and roasted red peppers. Set baskets of toast points or gourmet crackers out next to the display, and let your guests customize their appetizers.
Two or three varied salad options will give guests who are eating light a chance to have a healthy meal without worrying about offending their hosts. This Roasted Radicchio and Pear Salad recipe would work perfectly to echo the importance of your 25th wedding anniversary without sacrificing the taste factor.
You might also consider baking a few quiches or savory tarts ahead of time that will be plenty tasty served at room temperature. I suggest this Spinach and Gruyere Cheese Quiche recipe as one great food idea, and I'd be sure to offer at least two meat and two vegetarian options so that the only thing your guests want more of when they leave is the actual party itself.
Have a wonderful 25th anniversary party, and congratulations again.
Enjoy Planning.
