E-mail Address Anxiety
Hi Penelope-
I’m trying to plan a party for my son’s soccer team. I’d like to use MyPunchbowl to invite all the other kids’ parents, but I don’t know all of their e-mail addresses. Is there any way around this? Thanks.

Kim, darling!
Come now. We’re living in the age of e-mail. I know my neighbor’s e-mail address and we’ve never even spoken. Have you been a little too busy to socialize with the other mothers and fathers at little Timmy’s games? Perhaps you work too much? Or you look down on stay-at-home spouses? Better yet, maybe you and Bobby Johnson’s father were too busy “going over the team’s game plan” to pay attention to anyone else? There are plenty of ways around this, though I really feel obligated to encourage you to make some contacts! You never know when the names and contact information of 20 middle-aged women can come in handy.
Bring a pen and paper next time you’re at one of Timmy’s games, and, though it involves interacting with the other parents, ask them for their addresses. Or hand little pieces of paper with your e-mail address on them to the people you’d like to invite, and ask them to e-mail you from their preferred e-mail address. What I like to do is enter e-mail addresses directly into my cell phone in the notes section of each contact’s information. However you decide to handle this, I'm sure your soccer soirée will be lovely.
Enjoy planning.
