From time to time, I've been invited to baby showers and haven't been sure what to bring. If you decide not to buy a gift off the registry, I've learned that something simple and straightforward is always safe.

Also, creating something one-of-a-kind is always special for an expecting mom. At a recent shower, the mother-to-be received two beautiful blankets--one was hand-quilted and the other was hand-knit. Both were made with love and will no doubt be sentimental favorites for the new baby.
One of the best gifts I received at my own baby shower was a baby pillow with two monogrammed baby pillowcases. Since I didn't reveal either of my kids' sexes or names before they were born, the pillowcases were embroidered in pastel purple and green and simply read "Baby."
The best baby shower gift advice I can give is to stay simple. All parents and babies need certain things in those first few months, and an extra Diaper Genie never hurt anyone!
