A Great Labor Day Party Idea
It happens to all of us. We begin the summer saying I'm going to throw a really great party this summer and we end the summer wondering where all the time went. If you've got young kids, you know how crazy it can be trying to synchronize sports and day camps and keep them entertained while avoiding the incessant clanging of the Ice Cream Man. I swear, he follows me whenever I'm with Maggie and William. I think my husband gives him my charted route for the day, just to keep me on my toes.
Anyway, back to party planning. I'm here to encourage you, dear readers and fellow party planners, no matter how seasoned you may or may not be, to take the wonderful opportunity of Labor Day Weekend to finally throw your own really great party. Labor Day is all about taking time off to be with friends and family one last time before summer ends, right? So planning a Labor Day party shouldn't be stressful or laborious. I've often found that it helps to choose a theme for parties when I'm not quite sure where to go with my party preparations, and Labor Day parties are no exception.
A theme idea for your Labor Day party planning: a Strawberry Splash Labor Day party. Strawberries work amazingly well in all sorts of party dishes, from appetizers to dinner to dessert. Begin with a strawberry, almond and goat cheese spinach salad, then serve a grilled fish of your choice with a puréed strawberry sauce ladled generously over the top. For dessert, take your pick of any party favorite from strawberry shortcake to strawberry pizza (served on a cookie crust instead of the regular pizza crust). Labor Day party drinks are easy for this one: strawberry margaritas for adults and strawberry smoothies for kids. MyPunchbowl.com has even got a great strawberry party invitation template for your Strawberry Splash.
However you celebrate Labor Day this year, remember to relax and enjoy the wonders of the summer season (except for the ever-present Ice Cream Man).
Enjoy Planning.
