Planning a Labor Day Party
It's time to discuss the last big party of the summer. That's right, I'm talking about Labor Day. We've got some great Summer and Labor Day templates on MyPunchbowl.com for you to use.
Typically, Labor Day marks the end of summer (socially, if not literally) and this year is no different, so my party planning advice to you is to get started with your Labor Day plans now. In the Walker family, our Labor Day party tradition is to gather the whole family together at our home and eat our body weight in lobster and corn on the cob. We usually go through about four sticks of butter.
For your Labor Day preparations, my party planning idea is a Labor Day Whiteout Party. For those of you who are unaware of the Labor Day white rule it goes like this: no white after Labor Day. Some people believe that this rule applies primarily to white shoes, and others believe that all white items are a faux pas after Labor Day. Then there's the group that ignores the rule (and others) completely. Wherever you fall in the "white after Labor Day" spectrum, a Whiteout party is a great way to poke a little fun at "the rules." Ask your guests to wear as much white as possible and have fun with this party theme yourself. My recommendation: go for a 60s Mod look with bold white makeup and accessories. Strings of Christmas lights will work nicely indoors or outdoors as a warm, cheerful lighting option.
My advice to you is to start planning your Labor Day party right now so that you can be sure your friends and family will be available. And wear white while you still can!
Enjoy Planning.
