Labor Day is Coming Up! What Are Your Plans?

Labor Day Weekend is coming up, dear readers, and there’s no excuse not to host at least a small get together to celebrate the summer we’ve nearly finished and the fall that’s right around the bend. Throw one last big cookout or barbecue, or invite some friends over for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. For the Walker family, Labor Day is about that one last break before school starts. We celebrate the freedom and empty schedule of the best summer days, and prepare for the early mornings and brown bag lunches of fall and back to school season.

Of course, summer is “the fun season,” and we’re all sorry to see it go. So take the opportunity that this one last summer holiday is affording you and relax! Have fun playing games in the yard with the family, or set up a margarita bar (multiple blenders, salt, the works) and have at least one more wild night before fall sets in. Summer party planning is somewhat easier, I’ve noticed, because we have the warm weather and the outdoors at our disposal. Live near the waterfront? Organize a kayaking trip out to an island or just along the shore. Landlocked? Set up a family obstacle course in your backyard or host an outdoors expedition party where guests bring their own picnic lunch and you hike to the top of a nearby mountain.

Whatever you do this Labor Day Weekend, be sure to take advantage of the pleasant weather and the beautiful outdoors before we’re all wearing sweaters and sipping cocoa.

Enjoy Planning.
