One Last Hurrah: Labor Day Weekend
Labor Day is in exactly two weeks, dear readers. If you're planning a party for Labor Day Weekend, you should be well into party planning and preparation by now. Not quite? Not to worry. I've got your simple Labor Day party advice here: lobster. As I've said before, serving lobster on Labor Day is a Walker family tradition. Want to make it your tradition? MyPunchbowl.com has a superb template for your Lobster Labor Day party invitation needs.
Don't feel as though you have to limit yourself to regular old lobsters--have fun with lobster stew, lobster rolls and lobster salad as Lobster Labor Day party food options for your guests. Be sure to serve some cherry pie or strawberry shortcake to emphasize your theme all the way through to dessert. For beverages: Cape Cod Cranberry Dry is a delicious summer favorite and I've never known someone to turn down a Shirley Temple (with extra maraschino cherries, of course).
To carry the lobster theme through your whole Labor Day party this year, I suggest instituting a red party attire requirement for all partygoers. Encourage your guests to break out their most wild and fun red clothing and wear it with pride this Labor Day weekend. Red and white checked oilcloth is a favorite for a trash-generating occasion like this because it wipes clean and echoes the red theme.
If you still haven't gotten started planning your Labor Day party yet, what are you waiting for? I'm not coming over to make Lobster Newburg, no matter how much you beg.
Enjoy Planning.
