Pumpkin Carving Party

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. There's just something about the way the weather gets a little bit cooler, the leaves start to change color, and there are so many great holidays to look forward to!

One of the things I get most excited about is pumpkin carving! It's become a tradition of mine to invite some friends over, open a bottle of wine, and set out some yummy snacks (think cheese and crackers, apples with caramel dip, and candy corn).

If you've never carved a pumpkin before, there are a few things you should know to prepare:

1) It's messy! But who cares? It's all part of the experience. Grab a roll of paper towels and remember to warn your guests to come over in jeans or comfy sweats rather than those 4-inch heels.

2) It's all about the tools. Everyone needs to find what works for them, so have a variety of sizes available in spoons (for removing the seeds) and knives (for carving). Don't forget bowls for the seeds.

3) Be creative. The best part about carving pumpkins with friends is seeing what everyone comes up with in the end. Who carved a scary pumpkin? A happy pumpkin? You get the point.

Also, don't let those pumpkin seeds go to waste. Use this roasted pumpkin seeds recipe or find another use for the seeds (cookies, scones, etc).

Start planning your pumpkin carving night with the girls by sending fun and unique fall or halloween-themed party invitations. After this fun night with the girls you might end up with pumpkins that look like these pumpkins:
