Five Themes for Halloween Costume Parties

Halloween is fast approaching and you might be wondering if you need a theme for your Halloween party. You don't absolutely need one, but it can definitely make your party a little more interesting if you have one.

Here are five ideas for Halloween party themes:

  • Haunted Howl-o-ween: Creatures of the Night Unleashed -- Decorations and costumes such as werewolves, vampires, etc work well with this theme.
  • Monster Mashed Halloween Bash -- Turn your favorite Halloween costumes (cowboy, cheerleader, nurse, etc.) into a monster-fied version of themselves.
  • Fright Night Flashback, 80s Style -- Make your Halloween party a decade-themed costume party. 20s, 40s, 70s are other fun decades you can try.
  • Hocus Pocus "You're Famous" Halloween Party -- Have guests dress up like celebrities, alive or dead, it is Halloween after all.
  • Night of the Living Dead Party -- Instruct guests to come dressed as people who are no longer with us. This could be a celebrity (ie Elvis, Marilyn Monroe) or a famous explorer, politician, musician, etc.

Once you've picked a theme, make sure you communicate it in your Halloween party invitations so guests know to find an appropriate costume. Then get all of your supplies and favors early so you can focus on finalizing your costume!

Enjoy Planning.
