A Black Tie Halloween Party
If you want to host a different kind of Halloween party this year, think about a “Black Tie” party. This is a sophisticated version of the usual fright fest.

A few ideas to get your bat wings flapping:
- Use an online invitation to inform guests of the dress code—dusty tuxes for the men and cobwebbed gowns for the ladies—don’t forget to finish the look with fabulous or frightening masks.
- Think formal affair-chandeliers covered in Spanish moss, butlers in tattered suits and a live string quartet covered in cobwebs for drama.
- Since this will likely be an evening event, serve heavy appetizers and forego a sit down meal. Ghoulies definitely get hungry after dark!
- Hire a photographer to snap pictures. Stage a special photo opportunity location so couples can take turns getting shot. These images make great “thank you for attending” favors.
- Send guests home with custom-dyed black roses tied with a red silk ribbon and a personal note.
I’m not sure why it seems that ghouls and vampires are always dressed in their finest, but play on this idea and host a formal Halloween party. So, keep the dust on your gowns and tuxes that are hanging in the closet and put them to fun use.
Enjoy Planning.
