Candy, Candy, Candy: Halloween Party and Costume Ideas
Hey, folks. Penelope here, with one of my favorite Halloween party ideas for your party planning use this Halloween season. I call it the Coolest Candy Costume Contest. Can you guess what the theme is? That's right...candy! This is a great Halloween theme party idea for both old and young, and can work on almost every party planning level, from sophisticated adult to family fun.
Two fabulous costume ideas for your Coolest Candy Costume Contest this year: bubble gum and candy corn. My favorite interpretation of bubble gum is one that a friend of mine did a few years ago. Pull all of the bubblegum pink items in your wardrobe out and cover yourself in as much pink as possible (varying shades are definitely O.K.). Now for the pièce de résistance: the sneaker. With a bubblegum pink shoelace, attach a sneaker (preferably a clean one) to your head and voilà! You've become the most prevalent form of bubblegum out there.
As for costume #2, if you're having trouble locating a triangular foam candy corn costume, not to worry. Mimic the colored layers of candy corn with your clothing, makeup and accessories and you'll be all set. If you have a white baseball cap or beanie, start with that. If not, white eyeshadow and lipstick will get the point across, as will a white scarf or T-shirt. Orange is the next step down the candy corn ladder and can be represented in your Halloween costume by a belt, pants or a skirt. Pajama pants are perfectly acceptable as well, as long as you've got the orange represented somehow. Yellow is the last step and can be shown through yellow tights, shoes or knee socks.
The important thing to remember with these costumes is that it's all about interpretation and originality. Don't feel compelled to mimic any costume idea perfectly--your take on the Halloween costume is what will make it unique and fun this Halloween season. I've always found that when it comes to creating Halloween costumes, the crazier the better is just the right mindset.
In terms of your actual Halloween party décor, remember that your decorations, like your costume, can mimic the color schemes of classic Halloween candy if you're having trouble locating explicitly candy-themed tablecloths or stringlights. The important thing to remember is the idea: how you interpret the idea is what makes your party crazy, fun and memorable for your Halloween party guests.
Have a blast this Halloween and remember: candy, candy, candy!
Enjoy Planning.
