Who's Turning 60? Birthday Party Ideas
Planning a 60th birthday party for a parent, spouse, or friend? Struggling to come up with a theme? Seek inspiration from the year they were born. For example, my mother was born in 1949 so we're having a 40s-themed party.
Incorporate music, clothing, hairstyles, and food from that era into your planning. Think Fred Astaire, the jitterbug, or old radio shows. Check with your local library or online for music from the 1940s as well as for old recipes.
You might also want to dig through some old family photos to get the hair and clothes just right. Hopefully you'll find a baby picture of the guest of honor that you can blow up, put on the cake, or use in the favors!
To get your guests in the 1940s spirit, send free birthday invitations telling them how to prepare for the party. Don't forget to mention if it's a surprise party or not. With a big one such as 60, it could go either way. Make sure it's clear!

Enjoy Planning.
