A Seussical Birthday Party
A great theme for a child’s birthday party is Dr. Seuss. It will be a lot of fun for you to plan and put together, and the kids will definitely enjoy it too!
To create a Seussical setting, use lots of bright colors and shapes. Red and blue balloons and streamers can be hung from the ceiling as well as white light fixtures. For table center pieces, fill up jars full with brightly colored candy like skittles. Place various Dr. Seuss books on tables throughout the party for guests to read and enjoy during the party.
A funfetti cake is easy to make and will go great with your Dr. Seuss theme. If you want to be really creative, add red or blue food coloring to the vanilla cake mixture before you bake it. Thinking of cupcakes instead? Top delicious cupcakes with alternating red and white candies. Either way, the kids will love it!
A fun activity for the kids to do during the party is to have a Cat in the Hat decorating contest. Have a table set up for the kids to create their own uniquely decorated hat using craft supplies like markers, glitter, tissue paper, ribbon, and feathers.
Another fun game for the kids to play during the party is Surprise Package. For this game, you will need various different size boxes and a number of prizes equal to the number of guests that will be attending the party. Beforehand, put a prize in the smallest box and wrap it in wrapping paper. Next, place the newly wrapped box inside in a slightly larger box, add a prize, wrap it, and so on. During the party, have the kids sit in a circle and begin playing music. Have them pass around the large wrapped box. When the music stops, have the child unwrap the package to find a prize. That child now must exit the circle. Start the music up again and have the kids continue to pass around the package. Continue the game until you are down to the last child, who will receive the grand prize in the smallest box.
Enjoy Planning.
