Party Planning: Adults Only Halloween

Hi Penelope,
Any suggestions for activities at a "grown-up" Halloween Party?

Dear Nancy,
Why, yes, I do have some suggestions. To keep this party planning blog PG-13, I’ll assume that “grown-up” doesn’t indicate the saucy kind of grown-up but that you’re throwing a party for adult guests. The best party advice I can give you for suitable Halloween activities is to let your party theme dictate your activities.

If you’re hosting a Lovely Las Vegas Halloween party, as a good friend of mine did last year, poker is the obvious activity choice. If your theme doesn’t lend itself to an obvious game or activity and your drinking game days are over (quarters anyone?), you can always rely on dancing to get your guests involved in a party. You might hold a dance contest and play some classics from when your party crowd was in high school to really get everyone in the partying mood.

The other thing to remember is that an Adults Only Halloween party is usually an escape from…children! Emphasize activities that allow your guests to let their hair down and relax for a while. Even if it’s a goofy game of charades with some risqué prizes, your Halloween party guests will love the chance to decompress and act their age (or not). Have fun!

Enjoy Planning.
