Let's Get Nautical: Christmas Tree Schemes

Looking for a creative way to decorate your Christmas tree this year? Why not take your cue from the maritime side of life and decorate your Christmas tree with a nautical scheme this year?

This nautical Christmas tree decoration theme is very simple to carry out, and it all depends on what your preference is for decoration. You can go crazy, with all of the things that remind you of sailing or the nautical life in general on your tree, or you can stick to one element and keep your tree design unified and simple. Some homegoods stores will be selling mini-nautical ornaments this time of year, but you might also consider buying or going hunting for old buoys if you're on or near the water.

My vision for an ideal nautical Christmas tree is small red and green buoys, simple white lights and an old nautical style lantern as the "star" on the top of the tree. You might also consider nautical wildlife (starfish, sand dollars, seashells, etc.), string-lights adorned with lanterns (also available at some homegoods stores) or simply red and green colored ornaments to mimic the nautical port and starboard theme.

This Christmas tree decoration theme is simple, fun and a great way to tie summer and winter together...much better than sitting out in the snow in flip-flops and a bathing suit! Have fun and Happy Holidays!
