Today's Reason to Celebrate

February 13, 2010 was

National Tortellini Day

What is it about tortellini that makes it taste so good? The smooth exterior pasta shell packed with cheese and meat inside makes each bite a delectable experience to enjoy. Tortellini can be served in broth, with cream, or with pasta sauce.

Tortellini originated in Italy, but today is found in cuisines around the world. In the city of Bologna where tortellini was created, there is an organization called the Learned Order of the Tortellini whose members are dedicated to the preservation of traditional tortellini. At their functions, members wear red and gold hats shaped like tortellini and wear a ribbon around their neck with a tortellini made of gold. Furthermore, when the Bolognese eat their delicious tortellini, they never speak a word until the dish is completely finished.

Celebrate National Tortellini Day with a big plateful of delcious tortellini!
