Today's Reason to Celebrate

November 11, 2009 was

Veterans Day

Veterans Day is the day that we honor our fathers, grandfathers, and other military veterans for their services to our country. The celebration of this holiday began shortly after WWI and has since been celebrated each year. It was first proclaimed as Armistice Day by President Wilson, but was changed to Veterans Day in 1954 by President Eisenhower.

According to the United States Department of Defense, as of September 2008 there have been over 41 million veterans throughout history who have provided their service to our country during a U.S. war. Today we honor all of those millions of American veterans for their patriotism and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good of our country.
